Ribbon cutting ceremony held for ‘Scotts Corner’ at Chesterfield Recovery Academy

Updated: Oct 10

On Friday, Sept. 27, nonprofit 2 End The Stigma held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Scott’s Corner at Chesterfield Recovery Academy

At 2ETS, our partnership with the Chesterfield Recovery Academy has always been a cornerstone of our mission to support those in recovery. On September 27, we were proud to unveil Scott’s Corner—a passion project led by our CEO/Founder, Jill Cichowicz, in collaboration with Chesterfield Recovery Academy’s Program Coordinator, Justin Savoy. Scott’s Corner is designed as a student-centered space for mindful self-reflection and wellness, providing a safe environment for teens in recovery to focus on personal growth and healing.

We were honored to have Hallie Pence from Governor Youngkin’s office join us at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The support from the Governor and First Lady, Suzanne Youngkin, has been invaluable in all our efforts, and we’re deeply grateful for their continued encouragement. We believe that Scott’s Corner will be a transformative space where students in recovery can find peace and thrive on their journey to wellness.

This project was made possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our community. Special thanks go to Debbie Conroy and the amazing nurses at Bon Secours Richmond Health System at St. Francis Hospital for their donation to our Hot Chocolate Station. Their contribution of supplies, including hot chocolate, cups, marshmallows, stirrers, and snacks, ensures a warm welcome for students throughout the year.

We’re also beyond grateful to Liam Weis from Rams in Recovery-VCU for his breathtaking mural of the Manhattan Beach Pier, one of Scott Zebrowski’s favorite places. It truly captures the spirit of Scott’s Corner. Julie VanDerveer from Chick-fil-A Willow Lawn sponsored our breakfast, and Brooke Selden from Costen Floors Inc. donated a fabulous rug that beautifully complements the space. Ellen Pulido from Copy Cat Cakes treated us with delicious custom cookies, and Drew Lindberg from County-Line Custom Woodworking contributed a stunning black walnut end table that added the perfect touch to the room.

We’re so thankful for Dawn Canestrino Hobbs of OH! Shoot Photography for capturing the beauty of the event with her exceptional photos, and to Randy West from Monarch Productions for his unwavering support and talent in making our events shine. Lastly, a huge shoutout to Lisa and Mike Klee from Black Ties Entertainment for their amazing balloon artistry that added a festive flair to the day.

This project truly took a village, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have such a talented and dedicated community by our side. Scott’s Corner stands as a testament to what we can achieve when we come together to support those on their journey to recovery.
